Stardust Big Band’s Mission

Stardust Big Band’s mission is to promote appreciation of American big band jazz music and to share the joy of live jazz performance.

Stardust is in the process of becoming a nonprofit arts organization and is fiscally sponsored by Shunpike.

Stardust Big Band is the North Olympic Peninsula’s premier big band jazz ensemble made up of the top jazz musicians in the region. Stardust Big Band is a 17-piece jazz ensemble with vocalist that has delighted audiences throughout the Puget Sound region. Based in Sequim, WA, the band prides itself on creating a quality musical product for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy.

Stardust’s roster includes veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces bands, the Port Angeles and Port Townsend Symphony Orchestras, music educators, and other professional musicians.

The band is led by Marge Rosen, a trumpet player, music educator, and former US Navy musician.  She is a founding member of Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra and is their Executive Director.

With a full complement of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and a swinging rhythm section, the 17-piece band presents vibrant renditions of the finest in big band jazz. The Stardust repertoire spans the era of American popular music from 1935 to the present. A typical performance includes many beloved classics from swing era luminaries such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and many more.  Tess Teel sings top hits from the Great American Songbook.

Stardust Big Band has performed at free, all ages, community events such as the City of Sequim’s Summer Music in the Park Series and Port Angeles’s Music on the Pier.

Stardust is currently presenting a concert series at Olympic Theater Arts Center in Sequim and the Sequim Elks Lodge hosts dances featuring Stardust Big Band and the exciting live music of the Swing Era.

Please help support the band so we can present free concerts to the community.  Visit our donation page by clicking the button or visit Shunpike/Stardust Big Band. Thank you!
